Sophie et Voilà was born to accompany the women who think differently. To dress these women in hope. To tailor dreams from fabric. This is why we fought with pencil and marker to hold on to this hope in the face of Covid. During the months of confinement, Sofía drafted more than 300 sketches for those aspiring brides who did not yet have a dress and felt their "I do" slipping away.

Initially a project meant for the first 10 brides who told us about their dream wedding via DMs on Instagram, it turned into a two-way therapy session. For them, it was the excitement of receiving their exclusive design. For us, the exercise helped us realise just how important our work is.

Finding a name was the hardest thing. It had to convey the anguish of the brides, but at the same time the desire to assert hope over fear. That is why our editor suggested we call it Nessun Forma (let no one sleep), like the aria from Puccini's opera Turandot, which, set in ancient China, tells the story of the cruel Princess Turandot who beheads her suitors if they do not answer three riddles. Prince Calaf postulates by answering the three riddles and challenging her to be the one to guess his name to get out of the marriage. In view of the above, Turandot orders that no one sleeps in Beijing until the name of the daring suitor is known. We were Turandot. We were the prince.

Reading the introduction of this book listening to Pavarotti in Paris singing Nessun Dorma. That's like closing your eyes and telling the world "here I am."

Now you can use this book for inspiration. To find ideas for your dress or to think about how important hope is.
